This book is the first on the complete worksof Josef Hoffmann. As a student of Wagner, afounding member of the Vienna Secession artm ovement (1897), a professor at the ViennaSchool of Arts and Crafts (Kunstgewerbeschule)(18991936), and co-founder of the WienerWerk stätte cooperative (1903), the DeutscherWerkbund association (1907) and the Österreichischer Werkbund (1912), Hoffmann helped to cul tivate a new model of architectur al and product design characterized by craftsmanship and ambition.
